Over the last short while I have been reading a new (at least to me) blog with great joy; and you should too! It is καὶ τὰ λοιπά, by Daniel Streett, Associate Professor of Greek and New Testament at Criswell College, in Dallas, TX. He’s been posting on the state of Greek pedagogy, the need for a realistic and honest view of what we are trying to accomplish with Greek instruction, etc. I can only describe the current series as mesmerizing.
Having taught myself every bit of Greek I “know” (and all the other languages I’ve worked on), I am only too aware how easy it is to get caught in the parsing mode, while the desire for fluency of any kind becomes an impossible dream. In any case, I’ve added him to my blogroll, so check him out.
And special thanks to Mike for pointing him out to me!
