Matthew 7:28-29

7.28 And it came to pass when Jesus finished these words, the crowds were astounded at his teaching. 7.29 For he was teaching them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.

In 7:28, the word ἐξεπλήσσοντο has the idea behind it of “being struck, pushed out”, and by extension “amazed” – with the idea of the mind being pulled away from the ordinary business.
