Dutch Blitz

Made it to Spill the Beans with a smattering of youth and a few parental units. I had a lovely ice cream blend, and then sat down at table to play Dutch Blitz, a game that was new to me.

Or so I thought. Turns out Dutch Blitz is pretty much Nertz (I have no idea how to spell that!). Basically, it is a form of communal solitaire. There are some differences, like the fact that Dutch Blitz is played with a custom deck (4 suits of ten cards – 2 genders, 4 colors) while Nertz is played with regular decks (best to use different backs), so 4 suits of thirteen cards – 2 colors, 4 suits. We played individuals (rather than partners). Great game. Intense.

Phoeby looks excited here, but she got a little worried during play. The adults were aggressive! Let’s just be glad we didn’t get kicked out of the coffee shop!
